Cruise
Over To Dairy Queen

If
you are out and about in Medina on Wednesday evenings this summer,
you may notice something a little strange. Dont be alarmed
if you see classic cars and hot rods at the Dairy Queen on Northland
Drive. You havent been sent into a time warp. Since 1995,
Dairy Queen in Medina has been hosting these summer night cruise-ins.
Connie Hendrix, the stores owner, became involved with car
shows after having one to benefit a local childrens hospital.
The benefit was very successful, so she decided to have shows there
on a regular basis. Her decision turned out to be a great one. The
parking lot is full of folks who stop by to take a look at the cars
and enjoy great ice cream. For example, Connie says, We recently
had 80 cars here on a Wednesday. The atmosphere at each cruise-in
is perfect for the whole family. Bring your favorite lawn chair,
pick a spot and relax. For many, the greatest thing about these
shows is that it gives them an opportunity to get together with
friends. In fact, some car cruisers even form clubs and travel from
show to show as a group.
DJ
Frank LaManna plays golden oldies from 6:00 P.M. to
9:00 P.M. He also has trivia contests and other games.
Dont have a hot rod or classic car? No big deal. Drive on
over anyway and just take a look. Who knows...there could be a car
for sale that suits you perfectly.
Many people take full advantage of the shaded porch area at the
Dairy Queen. Its a great place to sit and eat while watching
everyone go by. Or, if you prefer, you can eat your meal inside
the air conditioned building. Try a juicy hamburger or juicy chicken
strip dinner.
Hendrix says, Not only do we want to invite everybody to stop
by here on Wednesdays, but once a month on Monday, the Seville Dairy
Queen hosts a fantastic cruise-in too. Registered cruisers
receive a 10% discount on food purchases on cruise-in nights.
