Seeking a new job or some qualified employees
for your new business? Check out www.ohioworks.com, a new, comprehensive
web site sponsored by the Ohio Department of Human Services.
If you're familiar with using job search sites like MonsterBoard
or American Job Bank, you'll probably find some similar features
on OhioWorks. However, OhioWorks has some great distinctive
features.
One of the best things about the OhioWorks
site is that it is very easy to access all the information youll
need. Everything is clearly labeled and very step-by-step. Try
using the site to create an online resume that OhioWorks can
use to match you up with potential employers. All of the instructions
are right there!
Use the Quick Links menu to jump directly
to where you want to go. Heres an example of how Ohio
Works can be used: Lets say that I think I might like
to be a paralegal someday. By looking in the Quick Links menu
and clicking on Occupations, Ill be able to access a wide
variety of information on what its like to be a paralegal
in Ohio.
For example, handy graphs and charts show
me that positions job trends and salary. The charts and
graphs used on OhioWorks are comprised of information taken
from surveys of 50,000 Ohio businesses.
Instead of searching for job openings throughout
the entire state, click on the Area button to limit your search
to a more specific area. Are you looking for a vocation that
has the highest pay rate? Search the Quick Links menu for that
too!
Now, we all know that finding employment
is very important, especially if youve got a family, but
it can be just as important that you are able to find certain
services you may need in order to go to work.
OhioWorks has information on where to find childcare, transportation
and even assisted living. For instance, Medina County has 12
different child daycare providers listed on the site. www.ohioworks.com
brings a job seeker great employment data right to their fingertips!
