THE EDITOR:
WARNING, WARNING, WARNING! ATTENTION PARENTS! CAUTION YOUR CHILDREN
TO STAY AWAY FROM STANDING WATER AND NEVER TO PLAY IN IT!
We had a new house built in North Ridgeville, Ohio that we moved
into in July of 1999.
It has recently been brought to our attention that the local builder
damaged our neighbors septic leach bed causing the septic waste
to be deposited on the surface of their vacant lot in 1997.
In total disregard for the safety of the community, the City of
North Ridgeville and the Lorain County Health Department allowed
it to sit until April of 1999: when the same builder snagged the
leach bed line and allowed the standing septic waste and all additional
septic overflow to be drained into our home site until the neighbor
was finally connected to the City sewer system (possibly in September
of 1999).
The City sewer system was available for the neighbor to be connected
to in 1997 when the builder caused the accident to their leach
bed.
The City of North Ridgeville, The Lorain County Health Department,
The Builder and the Legal Representation for the Builder must
have all come to the same conclusion:" it is not THEIR children
playing near or in the septic waste".
We sincerely hope that other areas of our Country have responsible
City and County leadership that will not allow septic waste to
sit on the surface of an area for any longer than it takes to
remedy the problem and NOT let it jeopardize the health of its
children.
