Medina
County Commissioner Candidates -
Hambley vs. Feron
Steve Hambley (R)
The Messenger: Why should voters cast you their ballots?
Hambley (R): “I think over the past four years, I’ve demonstrated
that I’ve made a difference as a county commissioner.
“When I began, our tipping fee was higher, our recycling rate
was lower and the county transit system was in a shambles.
“We had eight transit directors in six years. Plus, the MCDAC
levy had been defeated.
“I put together a bipartisan group to bring the MCDAC levy back
and get support.”
The Messenger: Please name three specific things you would accomplish
if reelected.
Hambley (R): “Number one, I would continue to implement our
growth management plan..
“We are working with the planning commission in providing resources
and training to the townships.
“We are also working with other land-use agencies like the Medina
County Parks District in growth management.
“Number two, I would develop a system for park and recreation
fees for any new developments. This has been done in Green county
and Brunswick for the past 20 years. The primary benefactor
of the fees would be the Medina County Parks District
“Third, I would continue working on our Transit Development
Plan, working to expand public transit in the county.
“We have a demand/response system and the state is requiring
us to expand our services.”
Steve Hambley is seeking reelection as a Medina County Commissioner.
Besides serving as county commissioner, he is also an adjunct
professor.
Tim Feron (D)
The Messenger: Why should voters cast you their ballots?
Feron (D): “Because Medina County government needs an independent
voice, a non-biased voice to make decisions on the board of
commissioners.
“I’ve lived here all my life and I’ve seen the problems of growth
and how it affects this county. These problems are more apparent
every day.”
The Messenger: Please name three specific things you would accomplish
if elected.
Feron (D): “Number one, I would establish a countywide zoned
fire and EMS.
“Number two, I would establish an effective countywide master
plan.
“And, number three, I would give more credence to the people
of this county in the government of their own lives. More than
the current commissioners.
“In my travels across the county, people have said the commissioners
have turned a deaf ear to several problems like the Westfield
water problem.
“I would bring things more to the forefront for people, like
the appeals for sewer and water in Brunswick Hills and the City
of Brunswick.”
