Ron
Amstutz (R)
“If voters want an immediately effective voice in the Ohio Senate,
I'm the only candidate in this race with extensive state legislative
experience.
“This is especially important with term limits bringing so many
freshman members to Columbus.
“I know the people of this district well as a lifelong resident,
former local mayor, local reporter, father and experienced state
legislator. This helps me represent their values and concerns.
I've won seven Watchdog of the Treasury awards for my conservative
voting record in the Ohio House.
“As a Republican in the Ohio Senate I will be a part of the majority
party which selects Senate leaders, appoints committee chairs
and has the primary say in setting the legislative agenda. This
positions me as the best choice to help the people of our region.
“Number one, I will push to permanently reduce our state income
taxes and to hold the line or lower other state taxes while continuing
to give education funding top priority.
“Number two, I will work to fix the fourth grade proficiency test
policies that passed over my objections in the last session of
the legislature.
“And, I will seek to continue the over 99 percent voting attendance
record which I've maintained during the 20 years I've served in
the Ohio House.

Neufer (L)
“Voters should vote for me because I’m a libertarian and the democrats
and republicans aren’t doing the job. We need smaller government.
“If I’m elected, I would lower taxes. Cut, cut, cut... maybe we’d
have a 15 percent income tax or maybe no income tax at all.
“I would work on education reform. I think schools should not
be funded through real estate taxes. I agree with the idea of
private schools systems and even vouchers.
“If we continue with public schools, we have to do it differently.
With the government in charge, schools have gone downhill.
“And, I would work toward the legalization of the medical use
of marijuana and the decriminalization of marijuana use.
“There are too many nonviolent offenders in our jails. If we legalize
it there wouldn’t be the crime involved.
“People are going to do drugs anyway whether it’s sugar, cigs,
booze, etc... Making it illegal is using up our tax dollars.
“We have so much other crime we should be focusing on instead
of someone at home smoking a joint.
